Saturday, bright and early, mom drove us in to BWI. Kia found some seriously cheap flights up. The plan for the day was fly into Manchester, pick up an SUV rental, and drive up to our first stop. Attitash mountain (trail map). The truck was about as new as you can get for a rental. There were barely any miles on it. There was even plastic wrapping stuck to it in various places. Almost made us feel bad about getting it muddy.

New Hampshire had several Dunkin Donuts, a state liquor store/rest stop combination, and moose crossing signs. At Killington they would give us pamphlets about hitting deer. Moose are a lot worse.
We almost skipped over Attitash because of warm weather, but we gave it a shot. It wasn't too bad. We found our way over to the second peak and took our unseasoned legs for a few solid runs. It wasn't a full day's ride, but it worked out well. We needed to just get some practice in before we had other people watching us! A short drive later we were in Maine. Along the drive we past a Story time town and a covered bridge museum. We also found the White Mountains. A set of peaks that we could see even from the next ski resort, Sunday River.
Before we settled down for the night we road out past a big ol Paul Bunyan to WalMart. Sadly WalMart was on the other side of a paper mill and thus, stinky. At the house we met Briar, Heather, Max, Adrian, two Daves, two Steves, and two dogs. Oh... and an inflatable snowman named Happy. The house was an old, rather oddly put together one. It even had a basketball hoop in the living room.
Before long we found our way to bed and got ourselves some rest for the next day.
