Extreme NoSpend

Remember how I did NoSpend November last year? Well this year I decided to try it in December. There are a couple of reasons for this shift. First of all I had a vacation planned already for November so I didn't want to skimp on it since vacations for me are so rare. The other reason is that while last November was difficult (primarily because of football season) it wasn't as big a stretch to pull off. Christmas is a big spending time and I found that instead of really saving on holiday spending, it could have been differed. So is it really no spend? Tough call. So in that spirit I modified one rule from 09. No Christmas stockpiling.

No Change November sprung as a result of things being moved to December. I can now compare it to December as well as last November. I also get a chance to see if I am able to track spending when it is happening all the time. Lets see how it all goes! Also of note, I am changing how I list acquired and consumed. If I acquired a cookie and ate it all in the same day, it will only be listed in consumed. Acquired will only be present for things that make it to the end of the day. The exception to this is cashflow.

Day 30: The Big 3-0

Since I recorded Back to the Future 3 last night so I decided to knock out one more Santa gift while I watched it. Mom made me another naan pizza for lunch (I'm going to have to start making them at home) and I worked on a couple of cookies. Instead of back to back driving days I decided to wait until today to come back to Blacksburg. I really liked being able to stay with my family for so long. It's a very rare thing to get so much time off without having to worry about returning to a pile on my desk. I did have lots of fun things to work on at the house though between computer things, cooking, fixing up windows and assorted other fun. The car was all pretty easy to pack since it was just me and Liza.

With that all set I headed home. Did I mention that dad filled my car up for me? Always appreciate it when he does that but it's doubly nice when I am not spending that month. I've been listening to free audio books from LibriVox.org when I drive. Lately it's been the Wizard of Oz books. I highly recommend checking them out. They keep getting weirder and weirder. In the one I'm listening to now is The Tin Woodman of Oz. For those that don't know, the Tin Woodman had his axe cursed by the Wicked Witch of the East because he was in love with one of her munchkin slaves. As a result he kept cutting off his body parts and each time had them replaced by a tin one. In the end he was all tin. In this book he ends up finding his old head and has a conversation with it. So yeah.. good mindless listening material for long drives.

When I got home I noticed that my outdoor lights were on, so I hope that they weren't on 24/7. The house is a wreck, so I cleaned some, ate some, and rested some. Tomorrow I will likely do the same but far more emphasis on the cleaning.
