So now here's my trip. Today, Tuesday, I fly to Tucson via Dulles and Phoenix. I have
meetings there Wednesday and Thursday. Thursday night I fly to
LA direct. Friday I will enjoy LA through the guidance of some
old friends. Saturday Will and I will start our drive east. Before
getting
to Blacksburg we will hit 4 of the 8 states I have not yet seen.
Colorado, Utah, Kansas, Kansas, Kansas, Kansas (I hear it's a lovely
exciting state) and Missouri. Monday evening we'll hopefully show
up back in Blacksburg. Fast trip yeah. But it should be a good
one. At the moment I am sitting in the Roanoke airport terminal using
the free wireless. So far the only excitement is a baby that is currently
being held upside down and the fact that the wireless is free. Whoops
time to go! Keep looking for updates. I will try to keep this as
current as possible. |

Well I made it to Dulles. This was something new for me in one
particular way. I haven't ever flown on multiple carriers on a
trip. Because of this I had to find my way back to the main terminal
and
scurry down to terminal Z. Yes that's right... Terminal Z. I have
no idea what is up with the whole Z thing. There are plenty of letters
missing. But who knows. Must be a special one. Oddly I just saw someone
from my first
flight
all
the
way
over here now. She was the one holding the upside down baby. So I
think I might go over and say hi... or maybe just find a place to
charge
my laptop! |
The person I mentioned before that was in DC, was
a girl named Liz from Southern VA University. I asked her if she
was following
me. She laughed and asked what I was going to Tucson.. uh.. Phoenix
for. AHA! She goofed up and lead on that she knew I was continuing
on to Tucson, so I of course knew now that she was stalking me. |
|
But seriously, we got onto the plane and my seat was taken by someone
else. Somehow the lady and I were assigned the same spot. We agreed
that we would take turns sitting on each other's lap for the flight.
On the off chance there was another seat I went and asked an attendant,
and she confirmed that we were marked to be in the same spot. So
they sent me to the back of the plane, where there happened to be
a seat next to Liz. I took credit for doing the stalking this time
and we got to hang out for the rest of the trip discussing our respective
lives in Virginia and Arizona. Generally a nice way to pass the time. |
|
(on a creepier note... my hotel room is on the ground floor
facing the parking lot.. some old lady just walked by smoking staring
at me.... closing the blinds now)
On the flight there was no provided meal. They did offer sandwiches,
cookies and chips for sale though. I bought two enormous cookies
(one for sharing) for $4. When we got close to Phoenix, we thought
it would be fun to circle around for an hour or so. Thus we landed
an hour and a half late. |
|
Luckily the Tucson flight was delayed too. So I grabbed
a cheeseburger and moved to the new gate. so here we sit and wait.
The flight has been delayed once again. So hopefully... we'll be
leaving at 9:40pm. If not, no big deal, I will just have to find
something to do in Phoenix! Our flight was moved from gate B3, to
B9 to B7 to B19. We were all a little punchy but finally got on the
plane... and sat... for about 35 minutes or so. Finally we took off
and after a quick flight, we were in Tucson. Midnight AZ time or
3am VA time. |
|
I yawned a goodbye to Liz and went off to get my car.
They didn't have the computers working at the rental place. My car
wasn't available... but I did get a nice car... a Charger. Off to
the hotel, where the power and internet is on the fritz. No matter,
I needed a bed and that was working just fine. |
