[ Liger Zero | Elephander | Shield Liger | Berserk Fury ]
[Blade Liger | Shadow Fox | Pteramander ]

On my trip to NYC I picked up 2 Zoids. The first one I put together was the Shadow Fox. The second one is the Blade Liger. This page is a bit different. Initially I wasn't going to make a page for it at all. I made this one at a point when I just build a model for myself. Not for the sake of making an interesting page.

Figure 1: Shuffle movement for static shock action

Disclaimer

You're not going to get pictures of the model here, though you can see it on a few of the other pages around the site. I just decided to go with the inherent comedy found on the box. let me start this page by saying I really don't intend to mock other cultures here. I am just going to do some general 'behold the confusion created when a monolinquist (not even a word) interprets Japanese.'

Figure 2: 124 teeth

Down for the Count

Figure 2 clearly displays was my first test on deciphering Japanese. Up at up at the top are a series of stats, so that is easy.

  • Length: 25.9 meters
  • Height: 12.2 meters
  • Weight: 124 tons
  • Maximum Speed: 305 km/h

The rest gets tricky. I have to do some guessing. (Clockwise from the top)

  • Pointy Ears: 2
  • Shoulder Blade Extensions: 4
  • 3D Action Tail
  • Blade Backs: 2
  • Blade Fronts: 2
  • Feet: 4
  • A72 Style Soft Under Belly
  • Goatee Attachment
  • Teeth: 2
  • Don King Attachment

I am pretty sure I am close on these. It was neet to see repeating patterns in certain words. Maybe I will be able to read it completely some day.

Goldman, Party of 3?

Check this out. The pilots of this Zoid are characters straight out of the series. Van, Fiona and Zeek are the main characters in the first Zoid series. Van and Fiona come in sitting and standing options.

Zeek on the otherhand is considered and Organoid. A special Zoid that can enhance the big boys. Zeek is the creator of the Blade Liger, which was created from a Shield Liger.

Figure 3: Back seat driver

Figure 4: Now with sitting action!

I really don't have the talent, or the paint, to make the figures look realistic. So for now I just have a lot of plastic in the shape of the show characters.

Figure 5: Tiny erasers

Collect Them All!

Inside the box was a nice little pamphlet proclaiming the NEWS of recommended purchases. Lots were just interesting new zoids that are out on the market. I don't know that I saw anything new. I did consider looking for a Storm Sworder. I found these items particularly exciting. Apparently you can get trading cards, tiny blue erasers, discount cards to Japanese grocery stores, and color by number pictures. Maybe I am off on that. Regardless, I think they should sell erasers at least.

So how do you imagine I could promote the sales of such erasers? Why through this very exciting website of course. I imagine that the first words are important. I am not really sure as to why they are followed by GET!! in English. Perhaps it is much like the fancy shirts that Lindy has from Japan, promoting Skateboards with inappropriate English terms.

Figure 8: Get!!

Figure 6: Dig Dug

Prehistory

On the front of the box, there was an interesting item in the background. A Zoid 'fossil' in the rock behind the Blade Liger. This is out of the story line for the tv show. Van found the Shield Liger buried and broken down in the sand beside ancient ruins. Zeek brought the Liger to life, and later turned it into thte Blade Liger. I suppose it's rather cheesy, however it was a nice touch and less silly than many of the other boxes.

Figure 7: Options Galore

Risk

An odd reoccuring image on the packaging was this map. The content varied, but as far as I can see, there is a small lake in the middle of some yellow place. The red team, and the blue team want it of course. I can only imagine that there is a mighty struggle on the planet Zi to acquire waterfront properties with the intent to market them as a resort to travelers from other continents. I think i really need a good translation on this one. But for now I will just continue to believe my own lies and enjoy the cookies I got a deal on with my Japanese discount grocery cards.

Lost in Translation

Lindy hooked me up with some translating on the figures. I'll post it soon :)
