The New Plan

Remember how I did NoSpend November last year? Well this year I decided to try it in December. There are a couple of reasons for this shift. First of all I had a vacation planned already for November so I didn't want to skimp on it since vacations for me are so rare. The other reason is that while last November was difficult (primarily because of football season) it wasn't as big a stretch to pull off. Christmas is a big spending time and I found that instead of really saving on holiday spending, it could have been differed. So is it really no spend? Tough call.

So this time I figured I would get back into the blogging habit by No Change November showing you what happens in a typical month for me. I will do my best to be realistic about it and not restrict my spending out of shame since you're watching! The only noted difference is that I am not allowing Christmas presents to get stockpiled a head of time. A benefit of this activity is for me to see how well I can track my spending. In this age of digital payments I rarely look at bank accounts or credit card statements. Lets see how it goes!

Day 9: Afternoon Sushi

Today I was less rushed getting to work. I took a nice long shower and picked out something to wear that actually matched. I loaded up a bag with 5 yogurts from the fridge and a half eaten jar of applesauce. It's been sitting in the fridge for a little while. I am not sure where it came from but my guess is that it was from Steve as a christmas present? I imagine both will come in handy for breakfasts and snacks. Added bonus will be getting a jar for canning something later.

I decided to make two more butternut squash pies for tomorrow (314th day of the year). So after work I cranked up the canner to steam some butternut squash and cut up the big pumpkin from the garden. I hear that big pumpkins don't make great pies but we'll see how it goes. Dinner was hamburger helper (which I was happy to find was a two pack) and made me some good leftovers. Anna and I watched some tv and then it was back to pie making. For the crust I gave wheat flour a shot. I kinda got mixed up while I was making it but it all came out well in the end. I'm exhausted, but the smell of pies in the house is worth it.
